You may have noticed the weekly posts have not been weekly… *gasp* The past two weeks, no lil comic to read!!!??! Yea I know I know... I was planning to draw and write about my week trip to London to celebrate my siblings birthday (which I still would very much like to illustrate). My trip ended up being extended due to us both getting *jazz hands* covid *end jazz hands*. (Be careful out there guys, covid is still very much a thing) I had a fever and it really zapped the energy out of us. Thankfully, I recovered and had a negative test well enough in advance to attend BlueMoon makers market in Moseley. But I've decided to extend my break till the end of April...
I've been working on lil' Boot lil' Bat!!!
A few years ago I made a small zine about a bat, and I love him so much that I wrote him a long form story and am working on the pages for a long-form graphic novel for him.
Drawing pages is going well, but I forget how hyper focused I get on trying to be perfect and so I has been taking longer than I'd hoped to get a small amount done.
I want to work on allowing myself to be looser with my line-work and art, (like I am in these posts) while still retaining quality.
But the start of April will be mainly working on this, and the end I've decided to dedicate some time to updating my website.
I'm also dabbling with the idea of switching my substack posts to my website via a newsletter style weekly blog?? Will keep you informed on plans in the future when I return in May.
(will still be active on bluesky and instagram @masonwillustration)
Last thing!
I actually really enjoyed just drinking coffee and enjoying some quality content while ill... I read: -The Girl with all the Gifts by M.R.Carey- This one i'd been reading for a month or so, and sorry to say Carey but this wasn't it. Zombies and an interesting premise of them but really only a solid start and solid beginning whereas the middle was harddddd to get through. -Ex Mag Volume 4 'Bloodsucker' published by peow2 and avaliable at gosh comics!- I already wrote about this on bluesky...basically top tier anthology about vampires 10/10. -Helter Skelter by Kyoyo Okazaki- Not much to say but made me think about loose line-work alot. I watched: -Adventure time episodes- peak comfort -Merlin episodes- peak comfort -Perfect Days (2023)- I love this movie so much, dare I say peak comfort, it has me gushing about how beautiful routine is and getting me into cassettes. Watch this movie!! -What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? (1962)- Discomfort If you didn't know I am an avid Letterboxd user and review and log every film I watch...
